Throughout summer months, the park hosts a number of free public events such as beach bonfires, the annual urban island beach party, bird and plant hikes, children’s fishing clinics, family nights, art in the park and educational discussions. Check the calendar frequently for upcoming programs!

Join RiverEdge Nature Center and DNR staff for a sturgeon filled festival! To Pre-sponsor a sturgeon Click Here to release your own, come early for a water blessing ceremony. Festival is free for all ages, cost of sponsoring a sturgeon to release is $10.
Look for the tents just south of the pedestrian bridge at Lakeshore State Park’s north entrance (just south of Discovery World). Free Parking is available at the park’s south entrance road (access from Erie St.). It is about a 15-minute walk from the south entrance to the north, but on the way, you can take in the lovely views of the prairies throughout the park! Paid parking is available at the north entrance at O’Donnell Park.
